Assistant Coaches: JB and Josie

PWRFC is very excited to announce two additions to our coaching staff: Josie Ziluca and James Brunson. Josie and JB have joined our Philly Phamily as assistant coaches with their own individual, unique experiences and specialties. Below is a bit about each coach; we cannot wait to see the amazing perspectives and skills they bring!

Josie Ziluca (she/her/hers)

"I started my rugby adventure in college at Longwood University, where I studied Art History, in Southern Virginia, and from there I began playing with NoVA and Atlantis and then eventually with the USA 7s program and the San Diego Surfers. Along the way, I picked up some coaching opportunities that took me across the world, a playing position on the USA Women's Open Touch team, a position at the helm of Princeton program, as well as an awesome life partner and the cutest doggie I know. I'm an avid music explorer and seem to be sitting in the 70s soul/funk genre (it happens frequently, I can't help myself). If it's sunny outside, I'm outdoors hiking a trail, getting a workout in, or reading books on anything from team culture development to books like 'Take Hold of Our History.' I refuse to join TikTok and I tie my shoes with bunny ears."

James “JB” Brunson (he/him/his)

JB began his rugby career at the University of Hartford as a back 3 player in 1998. In 2001 he joined Media RFC as a center before moving to Schuylkill as a tight five and utility player. In addition to 15s, JB has played 7s with Schuylkill and rugby league with Philadelphia Fight. He coached Vaux HSRFC 7s from 2011-2014 before co-founding the Nomads in 2015. Off the pitch, JB cheers for France (15s) and Fiji (7s) while enjoying a frosty High Life. He also likes naps, playing with his dogs, and annoying his wife (haha!).

Interested in joining our amazing staff? You’re in luck! We are currently looking for a qualified, D3 coach. Check out the posting: www.pwrfc.org/hiring and send applications to President@PWRFC.org.
