Traditionally World Rugby has been a regulator and an investor in world rugby. It has successfully steered the growth and development of the global game to record levels of participation through investment driven by its flagship tournament, Rugby World Cup, and strong governance worldwide.
Founded in 1975, USA Rugby is the national governing body for the sport of rugby in America, and a Full Sport Member of the United States Olympic Committee (USOC) and World Rugby.
Currently headquartered in Lafayette, Colorado, USA Rugby is charged with developing the game on all levels and has over 115,000 active members. USA Rugby oversees four national teams, multiple collegiate and high school All-American sides, and an emerging Olympic development pathway for elite athletes.
MAC- National Competitive Region 4 (NCR4) of USA Rugby began play in the Fall of 2013. Regionally, this consists of the same teams that were formally in Mid-Atlantic Rugby Football Union competition. As of 09/01/2013, MARFU and its component Local Area Unions (Virginia, Potomac, and Eastern Penn) split and recombined into the Capital and the East Penn Geographic Unions (GUs); the two GUs are the joint participants in NCR4.
Eastern PA Rugby Union
The EPRU is comprised of clubs and colleges in Eastern & Central Pennsylvania, Southern New Jersey and Delaware and is one of the largest Geographical Unions in the nation with over 2,500 members. Some of the country's most successful coaching, refereeing and medical clinics are organized and conducted by the EPRU.
Rugby Pennsylvania Inc. is a 501(c) (3) non-profit corporation, organized in 2012 to act as a State Rugby Organization under the auspices of USA Rugby, the national governing body for the sport of Rugby Union in the United States. As the officially recognized State Rugby Organization for the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, Rugby Pennsylvania is the exclusive organizer and administrator of youth and high school rugby within the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania.
SCHUYLKILL River Exiles Men’s Rugby
Schuylkill River Exiles Rugby Club was founded in 1995 and is the only Men´s Division I club that trains and plays in Philadelphia. The Exiles are home to both a Men’s Division I and Division III 15s team as well as a competitive Summer 7s program containing a competitive open side and a newly formed U23 Academy. Philadelphia Women’s Rugby and Schuylkill share O’Neal’s as their sponsor social bar post matches and collaborate on many youth and community projects in the Philadelphia Area.
Philadelphia Grypons Rugby
The Philadelphia Gryphons Rugby Football Club (RFC) 501(c)3 is a sports organization dedicated to encouraging participation, building athleticism, and improving our community through the sport of Rugby. The Gryphons work to foster a diverse environment that welcomes all athletes, regardless of age, race, fitness level or sexual orientation. They are a member of the Eastern Pennsylvania Rugby Union, and compete in Division III play.
